Limiting Beliefs = Limited Results

You shared with me that limiting beliefs are the #1 thing that held many of you back from being a prosperous coach last year.

It’s understandable. At times all human beings are held back by fear — by a compulsion to stay small and “safe” when our greatness is calling to us.

And this is very telling…  after you’ve accomplished what you wanted that scared you in the first place, you won’t give another thought to that original fear. Then, new limiting beliefs often sprout up as soon as you realize the next thing you want!

When the calling comes to step up and play a bigger game — whether that’s to write the content of your website…  to ask your first client to hire you… to speak in front of your target market… or to speak to thousands of your target market all at once — the natural reaction is to shrink back.

The “shrinking back” is where the pain comes from. To become smaller than you actually are means you contract and pull back from what your spirit is ready for now. Do you think you would be led here by your heart, by your integrity, by your guides if you were not ready?

When you step up to whatever it is you fear, an amazing feeling comes over you — personal power. Your courageous heart has grown a size or two.

I know you know this, but maybe it’s time to remember again… limiting beliefs are just barriers set up by our brains to separate us from our personal potential. Once upon a time that mechanism had every day value, when we were under constant threat from predators. It’s time to evolve now.

Try this… the next time a fear or limiting belief arises, stop thinking about what you’re afraid of and start thinking about what you want. Bring your vision into full color with all of the details — as far as you can see. And feel gratitude for all that you already have, acknowledging all that you’ve accomplished already.

An alchemical transformation happens when you shift to possibility or prosperity thinking. It’s as if all the doors and windows open and let the fresh air in. Your body uncurls from fright and you become taller. And you are stronger because your mind is behind you all the way now. When your body, mind and spirit align, you will get what you want.

Over the last few editions since 12/17, have you seen yourself in one of these three wise coaches? What will you harvest from their story that will help you take more powerful actions in your coaching business in 2008? Here is the last part, but by no means the end of their stories…

Six months ago, when Michelle locked onto one niche market - realtors - her business took off! She identified the top three challenges that realtors face and a compelling set of ways her coaching would help them solve those challenges. She conveyed that on her website and practiced sharing the benefits verbally until she knew it in her bones.

Then Michelle went to the most direct source of clients she could think of — her previous brokerage firm. At lunch with John, the Broker, Michelle gave him a sample session and shared how it would benefit him if she coached his realtors. He was sold! They agreed on a strategy where he would endorse her to his agents - a 30-minute presentation at the weekly sales meeting. There, she passed around a clipboard that offered a subscription to her free ezine and also had specific time slots for sample sessions sign ups. She had them fill out a quick survey gathering their challenges and goals. By the end of the month, four out of twelve agents had hired her. She was thrilled!

A month later Michelle had nine clients. When the eighth edition of her ezine was broadcast, her list was already up to 443 realtors! Endless ideas for bite-size topics came to her, gathered from the survey results and coaching sessions.

The challenge now is how to get the word out in a much larger way. Michelle organized presentations at ten other real estate offices in her area, honing her presentation skills and planting seeds. Four new clients enrolled. But Michelle realized that one 30-minute presentation plus a few ezines isn’t enough exposure to build trust for more to hire her and that one to one clients alone wasn’t going to make her revenue goals.

Michelle learned on The Coach’s Power Path how to attract more clients in less time — just what she needed to create a leveraged marketing funnel with more revenue streams and a process to build greater trust with prospects. She expanded her presentations to group teleseminars and recorded them to put out as mp3s. Later she re-purposed those recordings into products. Now she feels like a true entrepreneur!

Each new step on the Power Path quickly amped up her skills and knowledge because whatever she needed to do next and how to do it was delivered right to her inbox.

Being 100% committed to her success and having the support from The Coaching Community Mastermind, Michelle feels clear and unstoppable. Within the year she has a six figure coaching business and is having a lot of fun!

A month after she quit her corporate job, Barbara had a launch party for her coaching business. It was called “Hello New Life!”She put out a press release and invited 100 people including her closest friends, previous colleagues, and lots of “influencers” (well networked people to make referrals for her). Barbara’s target market is “corporate women longing to break out of the golden cage”, and she put out a powerful message to her niche market by having the party! The message was: “If I can do it, you can too!”

At the party, Barbara gave a brief interactive presentation with plenty of humor. She passed out giveaway bags with simple brochures listing the top ten benefits she offers her clients, several business cards, post it notes with her logo and contact info, her first ezine professionally printed, a Starbucks latte certificate, and an offer for a free sample session. She had open slots ready to sign people up right there. The party cost $750 including catering, goody bags and referral prizes which she made back ten times over within on month.

She also initiated a contest — for each “ideal client” her guests refer over the next week, they would get their name entered in a drawing for either a half-day spa retreat or a free round at the best local golf course. She provided a detailed profile of her ideal client, which described almost two dozen of her guests, and half of them became her clients!

The party was a hit and created a buzz. But the most brilliant thing Barbara did was to follow up after the party. She called everyone on her guest list to remind them about their sample sessions and the referral contest. She personally thanked them for each referral. And every month, she kept in touch with all the influencers, calling them her “angel team” which kept her pipeline full.

Over the next few months she received a lot of praise about her party. The Coach’s Power Path was showing her how to leverage everything, so Barbara created a fee based teleseminar and an ebook called How to Fill Your Business By Having a Party! Barbara loved that she could leverage her own marketing into something valuable for her clients that also brought her $100K in revenue in the first year!

Mark can’t believe it. He’s doing a sound check on the platform in a large conference room. It’s his first keynote - a dream he had over a year ago sitting in his dingy office at the university. Now, he’s made the grade as a speaker circuit after three dozen gigs, starting with local charities and small business clubs and building from there.

Because Mark coaches a narrow but global market — social entrepreneurs — he’s taken a very high touch approach to marketing to order to build trust and credibility. He meets most of his prospects face to face at conferences, networking events and speaking gigs. He hired a virtual assistant (VA) to manage all the speaking details, and now he has a travel assistant as well — Ethan, his teacher’s aide from the university days. It was a tough decision to cut into his profits. But he’s learned from the Essential Steps of the Coach’s Power Path how it’s smart to invest money into your business to dramatically increase revenue potential and to activated the law of attraction in your favor.

His focused work and investment have paid off. Today, the room is filled with 200 of his ideal clients, who have been receiving his ezine and posting on his blog for months. Mark’s VA is re-purposing articles into directories and blogs aimed at his niche market, which has seeded his name over and over. And that’s how Mark announces where he is speaking.

Mark’s coaching business has expanded into a speaking business, something he dreamed of but didn’t know he could achieve so fast. He’s on his way to keynote gigs paying $5000 or more. Along with the ten clients he has on board, it’s a good income, but he’d like to double it. Our three wise coaches crossed the six figure threshold in their coaching businesses. It took focus and trust, and facing doubts. But they were never alone. All along the way they had lots of support.
