From the Wisdom Vault…

What if you never again worried about getting more clients?

Imagine…

- Having more energy.

- Feeling truly free.

- Making choices that align with your values rather than your fears.

For me, the single most powerful tipping point happened when I changed my mind about my self worth and then shifted my approach to coaching fees.

The tide turned from constant money worries and desperation about getting clients to a feeling of complete trust. In a short time, my income leaped tens of thousands into six figures. It’s a lasting and thrilling experience that carries positive repercussions for my clients too!

This is what I want for you — to feel in your bones just how valuable you are, and show that in everything you do. I’m not talking about being arrogant, because when you fully realize how valuable you are, you will also see the same in others. And when you show up with confidence, prospects are naturally attracted to you.

Did you know that there is a direct correlation between your sense of self worth, the way you charge coaching fees and your financial success as a coach?

I know coaches who have masterful coaching skills, do all the right things to market their business, and yet they are not experiencing the success they want.

Their energy is tied up in worry and overwhelm. Their focus is almost continuously on what’s missing for them — enough clients, enough income. There is a subtle scarcity mindset that threads through everything they say and do. And this may be the only thing keeping them from being a prosperous coach.

Often just a few simple shifts in how you think and what you do can open the flow of  prosperity. Let me introduce you to some small but powerful changes that can make all the difference for your bank statement, your clients and your well being.

The Manifesting Power of Financial Goals

October 22nd, 2007

From the Wisdom Vault

You’ve heard this — whatever you focus on expands. The authors of  The Law of Attraction by the Abraham-Hicks group, suggest that 68 seconds of focused thought initiates creation energy.

What is the focus of most of your thoughts? What are you attracting?

It’s easy to get caught up in negative thoughts without even knowing it. Learning how to focus your thoughts to attract what you want (instead of what you don’t want) is a gateway skill — one you’ll want to add to your coaching skills. Give yourself easy and effective ways to focus.

Attraction in Action

One of the most powerful ways to attract coaching business success is to set annual revenue goals and then back in the monthly, weekly and even daily activities that will support that financial goal.

Recently, a group of coaches, all in their first two years of professional coaching, were asked what their financial goals were. Only 20% had set an annual revenue goal. The rest were just focusing on “getting” clients.

The coaches who had set financial goals:

- Had 12 or more clients in their practice.

- Were well on track to meeting their financial goals of up to 144K.

Whereas the coaches who had no financial goals:

- Were often discounting their coaching.

- Had 6 clients or less in their practice.

- Felt financially strained and frustrated.

Why are financial goals powerful?

Spending time thinking about what you want +
Setting goals that represent those desires +
Planning and taking actions that support those goals =

Significant time in positive focused thought (creative energy) toward the outcome you want.

In business, the most effective way to do this is to start with an annual revenue goal.

Often coaches put their focus on “getting” clients instead. Their creative energy is focused on the need for clients — what’s missing. And often there is no plan or consistent action to attract those clients. So the majority of their thought isn’t positively focused. Days and months pass, pressure mounts, anxiety builds and their income stays small.

Set Your Financial Goals for 2008 Now

If you’ve never played with financial goals, it might seem intimidating or boring. Make it into a fun game that gives you pinpointed focus for your creative energy.

And here’s an important tip: Set a stretch goal rather than the minimum you can get by with.  If your annual financial goal is 40K and you make it, that’s great. But if you stretch your goal to, say, 100K and you earn 85K, you’ll be thrilled! It’s not important that you make the stretch goal, only that you aim high enough to encourage your growth and focus your creative energy.

Doing What’s Comfortable vs Doing What’s Successful

October 15th, 2007

From the Wisdom Vault

When you’re not coaching clients, how do you spend time on your coaching business?

Left to our own devices, most of us will choose to do first whatever is easiest. Nine times out of ten, that task will have the least impact on our success. It’s the way most of us are wired — to spend most of our time in our comfort zones.

But what would happen if we changed that habit?

Successful business people spend 80% of their time on what will have the highest impact on their success. In fact, whenever possible, they delegate everything else. They know how to determine, in any given moment, what action will give them the highest return on their energy right now, and they do that first. It’s a winning habit.

How do you decide what your highest payoff action is?

Well, here’s the thing. You instinctively know… it’s the thing that makes you squirm. It’s the stretch. It’s the task or project that requires you to get centered, focus, take a risk, use your creativity or develop new skills. For example:

- Directly asking a potential client to hire you.

- Doing research on your niche market to determine what’s most important to them.

- Setting revenue projections and creating a marketing funnel to achieve them.

- Creating a product and implementing a leveraged marketing plan to sell it.

- Asking readers to buy your products or services in your ezine.

- Presenting your key message to your target market and following up in a timely way with prospects.

Make your own list. Prosperous Coach Mentor, Sue Brundege, can help you create a realistic and appropriately challenging list with a JumpStart Session. Check each task for that squirm factor — that’s how you know you’ve hit the mark of a high pay off activity that will get you closest to meaningful contact with ideal clients or increase your profit.

If a task is mostly mindless and requires little creativity or confidence –  if it feels comfortable, then it’s most likely a low or no pay off activity. Getting caught up in email or administrative tasks are classic examples.

Short Listing
Are you ready to shake things up and get better results from your efforts?

Try this new daily habit:

1. At the end of each day, choose 1 - 3 high payoff actions for the next day.

2. Schedule time at the beginning of the day for those tasks.

3. The next day, after exercise and breakfast, focus exclusively on those high pay off tasks. Don’t even check your email first. Push aside all distractions.

4. At the end of that day, acknowledge your accomplishments.

5. Schedule your short list for the next day.

At the end of one week, notice how much more progress you’ve made. It might be helpful to have a mentor coach hold you accountable and help you adjust focus as needed.

Gradually, over the next few months, shift those no or low payoff activities over to a virtual assistant so that most of every day is spent on high impact efforts. Over time, your comfort zone will expand. You’ll naturally take bigger risks, leap higher and your revenues will show it.

Warning: this new habit will bring you satisfying success!
